It was our 14th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. (14 years? Already?!) That afternoon, the urge to finish the master bedroom hit me like a ton of bricks around 2PM and suddenly I was off and running. The running part was because we had dinner reservations for 6:30 and had to get the kiddo to my mom’s before that. The urgency was because there was actually natural light coming into my window and I thought “Last chance to get some photos!”
Let me be honest and say there’s still a corner that holds my husband’s golf stuff. (We do need to putt in every room in the house…doesn’t everyone?) And there is the rocking chair that still needs a facelift. (I’ve been waiting for better painting weather that lasts longer than a few days!) But those two things will be dealt with ASAP and I promise to share the chair when it is done.
Here we go! Remember this?
Drum roll please! Now here’s where we are:
I have to say I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.
I’m going to tell you my sources but please know that none of them paid me to say anything! The bedding and pillows I sourced from Home Goods, TJ Maxx and Target. I ended up with a quilt, a duvet cover for my down comforter and a multitude of pillows. (I LOVE PILLOWS)
The mirrors were $9.99 at Ross – good deal huh? I liked the idea of portholes, being that I’m a huge cruise fan. However, I did change them up. Here’s the before:
And the after:
This little IKEA padded stool used to have a blah beige canvas cover. I am proud to say I actually sewed this slipcover myself with little to no swear words involved! (Wow, I might be getting better!) I’m crazy about the zebra print I found at Jo Ann Fabrics and it cost me only $12 to make!
And my favorite piece, of course, is the (thrift shop) vintage typewriter table. I acquired this for $11 dollars last summer and have just been waiting for this moment to use it. Here’s the before:
I spray painted it with an orangey Rustoleum. I did take it apart, sprayed all the pieces and then put it back together. It’s so HOT now don’t you think?!?!
Perfect for our anniversary – we even have some BIG LETTER LOVE on top of the armoire!
I hope you enjoyed following along on my master bedroom adventure. If nothing else, maybe I inspired you to tackle your next project.
There will always be room for improvement. Some art here, some accessories there. Junk will always end up dumped in the corner! I’m just glad we’re headed in the right direction. Now we have a relaxing space to enjoy!
Thanks again for all the feedback and support! If you are just joining us, the other projects I did for the room can be found in these posts:
